Understand and help pass the Equal Rights Amendment.
We are the only democracy in the world that doesn’t include women in its constitution. All the necessary states have ratified the ERA and it just needs acceptance in Congress. The Equal Rights Amendment would put protection for women and other marginalized genders directly into the United States Constitution. The entire text of the proposed amendment is:
Section 1. Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.
Section 2. The Congress shall have the power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.
Section 3. This amendment shall take effect two years after the date of ratification.
It’s that simple.
The ERA Coalition and Equality Now offer ways to take action and contact your Senators and Representative.
